Hayama Artist ResidencyFeatured
Launched in 2020, the Hayama Artist Residency offers visual artists from around the world a unique opportunity to spend four weeks in Japan for rest, reflection, and creative inspiration. Selected artists receive roundtrip airfare, a private bedroom, and an $800 stipend to cover meals and local transportation. We welcome applications from visual artists working in any medium and at any stage of their career. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. The residency runs June 1 to 30, 2027, and selected artists will be notified by December 15, 2026. There is a $95 application fee. Summer $1,800 Innovate Grants for Art + PhotoFeatured
Innovate Grant awards two $1,800 grants each quarter to one visual artist and one photographer. In addition, 18 applicants will receive honorable mentions, be featured on the website, and join a growing community. International artists and photographers working in any medium are eligible. All applicants retain the right to the work they submit.

Open Calls

Hunt Museum Open Submission Exhibition (International)
The Hunt Open Submission Exhibition is an initiative celebrating contemporary Irish and international art at the Hunt Museum in Limerick. There is a €15 entry fee for the first image, plus an additional €15 per artwork for up to three submissions.
Deadline: September 7, 2026.

CraftForms 2026 Open Call(International)
Wayne Art Center seeks submissions for CraftForms 2026, the 31st International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Fine Craft, in the following mediums: basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood. Works created utilizing CAD/CAM technologies and 3D printing tools are also eligible. Selected works will be on display in from December 5, 2026, through January 23, 2027. This year’s Jurors, Dr. Robert K. Liu and Patrick Benesh-Liu, of Ornament Magazine, will present $12,000+ in prizes.

Bridging the Gap Open Call for Documentary Proposals(Scotland and Northern Ireland)
The Scottish Documentary Institute seeks new and emerging talent based in Scotland and Northern Ireland with an idea for a short documentary. Twelve projects are shortlisted based on proposals and visual materials. Selected filmmakers will develop their ideas through intensive workshops led by international filmmakers and leading industry professionals, and four films will receive a full commission.

Hiding in Plain Site: International Public Art Short Film Festival(International)
HPS invites filmmakers, artists, and creative practitioners to submit short works between two and 20 minutes for consideration in this screening program, which will premiere on October 25 in Minneapolis. HPS seeks to bring together film, video art, experimental media, XR (extended reality), and other works that expand how public art is experienced and represented.

Dobell Prize for Drawing(Australia)
The Dobell Drawing Prize is Australia’s leading award for drawing and an unparalleled celebration of technique, innovation and expanded practice. Presented at the National Art School in partnership with the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation, this biennial exhibition continues to highlight the enduring relevance and changing role of drawing within contemporary art practices. The winner will receive an AUD$30,000 acquisitive prize, and the work enters the National Art School’s collection.

Queering Wood Craft Open Call(International)
This exhibition, presented by the Museum for Art in Wood, will highlight queer-identified makers working in wood and be both an exploration and celebration of the dynamic intersections between contemporary wood practices and the multiple meanings of “queer.” Queering Wood Craft will take place between April and July 2027.

Queensland Regional Art Awards(Queensland)
The Queensland Regional Art Awards are Flying Arts’ annual prize, open to artists living in regional, rural, and remote Queensland. This year’s total pool of AUD$326,800 spans cash awards, solo exhibitions, artist residencies, and professional development opportunities. Entry fees are $25 per entry for artists aged 15 to 25, and $40 for those over 25 ($35 for members).

All About Photography Open Call: STREET (International)
AAP Magazine wants to discover your unique vision of urban life for its street-themed issue. Submit a cohesive body of work or portfolio exploring street life in any way you choose. The publication welcomes all approaches, styles, and interpretations. Black-and-white, color, and monochromatic treatments are all welcome. There is an application fee of $35 for three images, or $30 if submitted before the early bird deadline.
Deadline: September 29, 2026 (early bird deadline is September 8).

Global Lens Photography Awards(International)
The Global Lens Awards recognizes remarkable visual authorship across categories including advertising, architecture, black-and-white, nature, and fine art. Selected photographers receive recognition designed to extend beyond the results announcement, including certificates, publication in an annual book, virtual exhibition placement. The top winner receives a €1,000 cash prize, trophy, and prominent exhibition placement.

Field Notes from the Middle: Call for Midwest Photographic Artists(Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin)
Filter Photo invites photographers making work about the Midwest to submit to Field Notes from the Middle, an inaugural juried exhibition. This call is open to photography, photographic materials, and other lens-based artwork that engages with the region. Juror Nathaniel M. Stein, Curator of Photography at the Cincinnati Art Museum, will select five artists to each exhibit images from a single body of work. Each of the exhibiting artists will be eligible for the 2026 Filter Photo Museum Purchase Award of $2,000, with the selected work acquired by the Cincinnati Art Museum for its permanent collection.

YICCA Art Prize(International)
This competition is open to all media and techniques and geared toward emerging artists, with a total prize pool of €5,500. The application fee varies depending on the number of images submitted and starts at €50.

Arch Enemy Arts Call for Artists(International)
Arch Enemy Arts is seeking submissions for an annual group exhibition in January 2027. This spotlight exhibition of new and emerging talent has no themes or direction in subject matter, although the gallery focuses on representational, dark surrealism, magical realism, post-graffiti, pop-surrealism, narrative, illustrative, and figurative work across a range of artistic mediums. The exhibition is open to artists worldwide, who are invited to submit up to three works for consideration.

Grants

Henry Moore Institute Travel & Research Grants(International)
These grants of up to £2,500 are available to sculpture historians, academics, and conservators who are researching and publishing on sculpture conservation, production, history and/or interpretation, to support research costs, travel, photography and archival access.
Deadline: September 1, 2026.

Dezi Art Prize(International)
This global juried art grant is geared toward emerging and early-career visual artists. Two winners each receive a $1,000 unrestricted grant, plus a featured profile. Ten finalists are named and featured. Open worldwide, all visual media is welcome, with entries scored on merit by an independent jury. There is a $30 application fee.
Deadline: September 10, 2026.

2026-27 MCAD-Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Early Career Artists(Minnesota)
Artists considered for the MCAD-Jerome Foundation Fellowship may work in a variety of visual art media, including traditional and new media. The program is aimed at visual artists who can present their work in a gallery context. Eligible applicants must be in the early stages of their careers and have not yet attained professional acknowledgment commensurate with the quality of their work. An independent jury of three arts professionals awards four grants of $10,000 each to early-career Minnesota artists.
Deadline: 12 p.m. CDT on September 11, 2026.

The 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art(U.S. South)
The Gibbes Museum and Society 1858’s Prize for Contemporary Southern Art awards $10,000 to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South. Presented annually, the prize recognizes the highest level of artistic achievement and welcomes applications from artist working across any media. Artists who reside, work in, or are from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia are encouraged and eligible to apply. There is a $35 application fee.

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants(International)
The Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need who are creating work in the visual arts, digital/electronic arts, video/film, and choreography.
Deadline: 5 p.m. EDT on September 15, 2026.

2027-28 QM-Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists(New York City)
The Queens Museum (QM) launches its eighth iteration of the QM-Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists in New York City. Two visual artists will receive $20,000 each and professional development consultations from QM staff members working toward an artist’s project. Each fellow will also receive mentorship from a New York-based established artist. The fellowships will culminate in solo project exhibitions at the Queens Museum in 2028. The duration of each fellowship is one year, culminating with the opening of the fellow’s exhibition.

Tom Stoddard Award for Excellence x GOST Books(International)
This unique award offers established photographers working in long-form documentary photography a photo book produced by world renowned publisher GOST Books. The winner will also receive £5,000 toward expenses, travel to see printing in Verona, and publicity in The Guardian. There is a £50 fee per entry.

The Supporting Act Foundation Artist Grants(Europe)
The Supporting Act Foundation offers 10 unrestricted grants of €10,000 each, paid in monthly installments of €1,000. The program aims to improve living conditions for artists, enabling them to dedicate more time to developing their practices. To be eligible, artists must be based in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, or the U.K.

The Adolf and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant (International)
This program provides one-time financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs resulted from an unforeseen catastrophic incident and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Awardees typically receive $5,000 and up to $15,000.

Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (International)
The foundation welcomes applications from painters, sculptors, and artists working on paper, including printmakers. Grants are intended for one year and range up to $50,000. The artist’s circumstances determine the size of the grant, and professional exhibition history will be considered.

Residencies, Fellowships, & More

Surel’s Place Month-Long Residencies(International)
Surel’s Place supports artists by providing time, shelter, and professional support your work deserves. In exchange, the organization asks you to offer art experiences to the community in Garden City, Idaho. Residents receive free housing and studio space, a $100 stipend per week, a $300 travel stipend, and more. This open call is for residences that occur between January and May 2027.

Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residencies(International)
The mission of the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City is to support artists by providing working and living environments that allow uninterrupted time for work, reflection, and creative growth. Residency applications are currently open for composers, musicians, interdisciplinary artists, visual artists, writers, and poets. There is a $35 application fee.

2027 National Gallery of Iceland Residency(International)
The National Gallery of Iceland is seeking applications to its CUSP program, a European cooperation project funded through Creative Europe’s Culture grant. Artists working in complex media or emerging technologies are invited to apply. The residency will be up to four weeks long, and accommodation, workspace, and stipends are provided.

ON::View Artist Residency Program(International)
Located in the heart of Savannah’s Starland District at ARTS Southeast, the fully-funded ON::View Artist Residency provides a free, high-visibility studio space, lodging, and a $500 stipend for an artist or curator to complete a new project, continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research. There is a $50 application fee.

MacDowell Fellowships for Spring/Summer 2027(International)
Located in Peterborough, New Hampshire, MacDowell encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and all countries in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. A fellowship consists of exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two to eight weeks.

Art Omi: Artists Residencies(International)
The Art Omi: Artists residency invites practitioners from all over the world, representing a wide diversity of artistic styles and practices, to gather, collaborate, and share ideas. Concentrated time for studio work is balanced with cultural exchange and critical appraisal, fostering deep creative and professional connections in a lively social setting. There is a $15 application fee.

Art Omi Dance, Music, and Architecture Residencies(International)
Art Omi: Architecture nurtures experimentation in environs that offer a singular blend of rural quiet and cultural stimulation. Residents present their work to the public during the Open Studios event at the end of the residency period. Art Omi: Dance brings together accomplished dance artists from around the world. Residents experience each other’s creative process and the freedom to play in this collaborative residency program. And Art Omi: Music welcomes musicians, composers, and sound-makers working in all genres and hailing from around the globe for a uniquely collaborative music-making residency. There is a $15 application fee for each.

Glen Arbor Arts Center Residency(International)
The Glen Arbor Arts Center offers several opportunities for artist residencies each year. The purpose of the residency program is to provide visiting artists with a respite from daily responsibilities to enable them to concentrate on their work. Housing and studio space are provided for each two-week residency, and artists may work in disciplines of creative writing, visual art, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics, and music. There is a $35 application fee.

INDENT Emerging Filmmaker Opportunities(U.S.)
INDENT, a Pittsburgh nonprofit, hires emerging filmmakers into paid, full-time roles on professional independent productions. Five paid opportunities are open now. Two are post-production roles on an original, Pittsburgh-rooted feature documentary, running mid-December 2026 through mid-March 2027. Three are full-production roles on a short-form nonfiction episodic series, working across development, production, and post, running mid-January through mid-April 2027. Each placement is a twelve-week position with a $10,000 stipend, direct mentorship from working professionals, and a finished production credit. Filmmakers must be able to relocate to Pittsburgh for the placement.

Quarantine (International)
Dubbed “purgatory for artists,” Quarantine is a week-long intensive art program on an 18th-century quarantine island off the coast of Menorca, Spain. The program is open to beginners and professionals alike and offers three 45-minute private mentorships throughout the week, with activities lasting 12+ hours per day. Phones are banned.

Residencia Corazón (International)
Residencia Corazón is an independent, artist-run residency in La
Plata, Argentina—a home for artists since 2006. The program welcomes visual
artists, writers, curators, and creative researchers from around the
world for one- to three-month residencies. Each stay is fully personalized, and fees range from $800 to $1,500 per month.
